So, this workshop was a tear-jerker! I got so emotional my mascara dripped off! Anyway, his PPT is too large to post so I will deconstruct it and post here as links, etc.

Basically, the overview is that big companies are not going to hold hands with employees, or pat them on the back for every thing they do. Moreover, we need to teach our students (and ourselves!) to learn from failure, embrace it, and move on.

The slide above was created by a student who synthesized the qualities in the previous slide.

Ok, if you are not shedding tears now you are not human.

After that, Dr. B says he has people make a Timeline of their lives using one of many Open-source timeline features. I guess it gets them to think about what makes them them. I also like Dippity!

During this slide we had to turn to our neighbor and discuss our personal definition of success. A lot of people said the words "purpose" "meaningful" "recognition" "satisfaction"...very few said wealth or fame. Bt then again, we are educators. :)

Dr. B uses the fun tool Blabberize to get people to articulate their "definition" of something - like success.

Dr. B recommended these...he really feels the self-esteem thing has gotten out of hand and we need to embrace failure.

This game allows students to play at being homeless. They have to "make it through the week".

Ewan McIntosh showed this clip as well. It's a school program where kids build with real tools. One of the most clever things the man says is we need to embrace "gleeful calamities" - then analyse them.

And of course, MARCO TORRES, keynote extraordinaire, had a student do a "My Hero" project:

This video sparked a great discussion on choices, coming to know oneself, and taking a breath...
Then, Dr. B encouraged students to use GLOGSTER (multi-media online poster creation) to:

Dr. B then went on to discuss the sale of Pixar to Disney, having invention conventions in the school...
